Playing catch up...

This past week was really busy for us. It was Ike's last week of his June class. He got an A in the class!!! YAY! Let me just tell you I have the best husband in case I haven't mentioned that! He went with us Tuesday to the midnight showing of Eclipse! I can remember not too long ago when going to the midnight movie was not that big of a deal.. now it is a huge deal! Since we both had to work the next day. :) We came home ate supper and had to take a nap before the movie. It was fun though!
This is us all waiting for the movie to start, we had to get there around 10. I thought it would be mostly teenagers, but it was really not!
Wednesday my sister had a little suprise surgery, so I spent most of the day there with her. She did great and is recovering well!
What a week!

Last weekend in June..

This weekend has been on the calender for over a year! Ike has been blessed to have a really good group of guy friends. They have all been friends for years, and now the wives are all friends! We were getting together at least once a year for a wedding but since most are married now, we decided last year that we would have to plan reunions. This year was the first! We had a blast as we always do with these couples! We went camping in a neighboring town! We LOVE how the Winklepleck's camp. We were really roughing it....Breakfast time!
Our arrival... The wives that spent the weekend! The husbands... Saturday we hit the river!!Saturday night the boys cooked...
The girls talked.....
Saturday night the Bell's joined us too!! We missed those that couldn't make it! Maybe next year! Can't wait!
We really had a GREAT weekend! The Winklepleck's did such a good job planning this trip! Thank you Rob and Stacie! They do camping right!

Our dads!

I am a little late with this post but what's new! Last night we took my daddy out to eat because he was working on Father's day. Which just about describes him to a T. My dad is very hard working. I know I am so blessed to have him. He is such a great girl daddy! Poor thing had to live in a house with 3 girls, and this was challenging with all the screaming matches, pinching, bossing, and lets not forget his favorite the TEARS! He handled all that like a pro! I know I nearly drove him crazy in my teenage years with my attitude and stubbornness, mostly because I am JUST like him. My sister and I laugh because she and my mom are just alike and argued like crazy when we were growing up. I was the opposite, and it wasn't so much that my dad and I argued alot but when we did...oh dear the yelling, foot stomping, door slamming!! We both have a temper, and you would never think this by meeting him. ha, fun times! He seriously is such a great daddy, so good to us! Now Mr. Ira, Ike's dad... We got to celebrate with him on Sunday. Ms. Susie cooked a big lunch with lots of fresh vegetables from Mr. Ira's garden, soooo good. Mr. Ira works hard every year in his garden providing many tomatoes to the community! We look forward to these every year, last year for the first time I even enjoyed a few of these (I don't usually eat tomatoes). Mr. Ira is very old school, he is almost 71 after all. He loves that I "take care of" Ike, you know fix his plate and drink. Ha! So I have started making Mr. Ira's glass of tea for meal time too, and he loves it! I know just the combination of sweeteners 3 yellows and 2 pinks! Then we watched a little of the ball game with him, I have mentioned this before but he LOVES sports all of them! I forgot to get a picture of Ike and Mr. Ira on Sunday, but here they are headed out to enjoy something they both love, HUNTING!

Ike and I are both blessed with great dads, who we love very much!

***I just realized I never posted about Mother's day, I will do a mom post soon. They are awesome too!!!:)*****

Family fun!

This past weekend Ms. Susie's family in Carthage had a get together since her brother from Oregon was here visiting. So Friday afternoon we went down there. They had tons of good food, and a band came to play. I think we were all a little surprised by the amount of people that showed up. There was at least 400 people, and they said that when they have these things there has been up to 700-800 people! We had originally planned to stay at the cabin but since the fun went on past our bed time we decided to get a hotel in Carthage. This was an adventure...there are 2 hotels in Carthage, the Carthage Inn and the Economy Inn. The Economy Inn was the best of these 2. Let's just say it was interesting ha! Then Saturday we went back to the family cabin. They took pictures of the family that attended Leake Academy.... the past, present, and future Rebels. There were a ton of them! Then we all took family pictures. I did not get many because there were so many cameras, maybe I can get a few from the others! Here are just a few from the weekend.

Show us your life- Proposal

The day I had been waiting for...more on that here
Ike was still in the military and had came home on leave for a week. I stayed in Augusta and my sister came to spend the week with me. We had planned to come home on Friday night but I wasn't feeling so good and I ask her to drive me home Thursday night so I could go to the doctor on Friday. Looking back she did act a little funny about it, and she and Vanessa (my roommate in Augusta) thought we should go out to eat before we left. Little did I know they were stalling. After we eat we head to Mississippi and the whole way home Ike didn't call...he is always good about this??? Little did I know he was asking my parents to marry me!!! A little history...Ike's grandparents met and attended a small little church in Mississippi close to where we live. The church only has service once a year on Mother's day. Ok now fast forward to Saturday night... I knew that his family would be going there on Mother's day and Aunt Iris was here visiting so I was totally expecting to be invited to come. NO!!! I even dropped little hints, and Ike is very perceptive. I was sooo sad, and I was whining to my mom, who for the record ALWAYS takes my side, let me say that again ALWAYS. Not this time.... So later on Sunday afternoon Ike calls and I am not in a good mood, and he ask if I want to go out to the little cemetery and plant some flowers. We get out there and we stop by the little church because Rose "forgot her bible this morning". So we are digging around to find the key in the grass that Ike "thinks" they hide there, finally we go inside and the church is BEAUTIFUL, flowers every where! Here I am thinking they go all out for Mother's day. This is why Ike did not invite me, they had done this right after church and everyone at the church had known he was going to propose and he couldn't risk it slipping out. I really had NO CLUE, a proposal was even close to happening people would ask and Ike would say, I can't afford a ring right now, or no time soon (my personal favorite). So I start looking for Rose's bible, and I look up on the pulpit and I say that looks like Rose's bible up there, did she speak this morning (still not believing I was NOT invited). Ike tells me to come up there then I see the ring!! He has it surround with flowers and a lantern shining down on it. He gets down and tells me how much he loves me and ask me to marry him!!!! I was shaking and crying, and of course said YES! Then we went over to the bible and he read 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
SO sweet! and then we prayed for our marriage and Ike sang to me! Then we headed home to tell everyone or for me to tell everyone!!! Well first I had him re-enact it for a picture! Notice Ike's clothes he thought if he was all dressed up I would be suspicious....

Ike picked out the ring all by himself, he did great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
