Thanksgiving 2014

Thanksgiving feels like so long ago, but I wanted to document it here to some degree…

Rose, Chris and Sam came home the weekend before Thanksgiving so we celebrated with the Andrew’s on Sunday.  We miss these guys terribly.
These two are two peas in a pod!!

Ike and I had to go back to work Monday-Wednesday so we headed back Monday morning.  The boys stayed so they could spend some more time with everyone.  I think they had a blast…

When we came back the boys and I were able to hang out with the Jones’ girls!
Are these two not the sweetest thing you have ever seen???
These two right here... JUST alike!!

Then we spent some time with my family on Thanksgiving
Spence with my mamaw for his first thanksgiving and
Brant on his first of many tractor rides with papaw
Then after thanksgiving my parents kept the boys so me, Amanda, and Jason could hit up some sales.
Ike did some hunting and the boys and I spent a few days in Tupelo with Amanda and Jason.
Brant's first carousel ride
We had a blast!  Spence was done.

We had a great Thanksgiving.  There is no doubt we have been so blessed this year and have so much that we are thankful for.

Spence 6 month update

6 Month update!
  • Weight: 19 lbs 3 ozs
  • Size: diaper-4 and 9-12 month clothes
  • No teeth!  But working hard on getting them!
  • Sleep usually 7-4:30.  Great at going to sleep on his own.
  • LOVES :
    • Brant
    • nursing
    • Daddy
    • reaching for stuff, busy busy boy!
    • snuggling
    • The fruit feeder
  • Dislikes: getting dressed and cleaning his face... those are really the only two things that upset him
  • Rolling every where!  and is officially sitting up.  Christmas eve he started sitting without assistance.
  • Food:  Loves to eat!  He has jumped right in and is eating all three meals basically and still taking all of his bottles or nursing.  He still spits up a lot.  Bibs and burps clothes are a must for Spencey!
  • Still waking up about 4:30 hungry.  I did some reading and I think we need to continue this feeding for a little longer because he does seem hungry.
  • I read back over Brant's 6 month and to see that I was DONE with nursing at this point.  Spence seems to like nursing much more than Brant did so I am shooting for a year this time.  So far he is only taking breast milk, no formula.
  • Spence is always smiling!  Very very happy boy!
SUCH a HUGE Blessing to us!!

Brant 21 months

Brant at 21 months...
Gosh, time seems to be just flying by.  Brant is talking so much more lately.  He keeps us laughing.  His favorite thing in the world to say is “no.”  And the way he says it is so matter of fact and of course, no can also mean yes from time to time.  At Christmas, Brant was opening all the presents and oooing and awing when he gets to a box full of clothes…  He opens the box looks at it and says nooo (shaking his head) and closes the box back.  We all died laughing!  The child is certainly not lacking in personality.  If he gets you to laugh he will continue to do the same thing over and over.  They always have a funny story for us when we pick him up.
You would think Brant is not paying any attention to Spence, but he is!  If we are doing something that Spence is usually involved in like taking a bath or riding in the car that is the first Brant ask, “Spenth?”  with his little hands in the air questioning.  There have been a few times lately that Ike or I have gone in and Spence has a random toy that we know Brant had to bring him.  It really is so sweet.  One day he even had “Mater”, now that is love because that is Brant’s favorite.
Brant is following commands very well.  He loves for you to give him something and say go throw this away.  He also LOVES to help put the clothes in the dryer.  He stands there and I hand him items to put in.  The other day he wanted the deodorant so I handed it to him he took the top off and started attempting to put it under his arm.  He is definitely watching us, I was shocked!!!   We are working on the whining, we are asking him to use his words (Thanks, Jenifer for that one!).  Now he says and signs please most of the time when he wants something or I will say show mommy what you need and he will take my hand and lead me to it.
He is telling us when he is shew wee.  He will pull on his diaper and tell us.  When you are change him he makes a sour face and says nasty.  He also gets that something is hot.  So if we give him something he will put his hand over it feel if it if hot and usually ask if it is ok.  He has started doing this with bath water.  I apparently got it too warm at some point because every night I have assure him it is cool.
The kid is a picky picky eater!  He will not eat anything he is not interested in, and don’t think you can sneak it in.  Like he loves yogurt so I try to sneak in fruit, he eats the yogurt and spits out the fruit!  He is a sweets person for sure…bring on the cake!
He loves the movie “Cars”, especially Mater.  He has these little Maters that he has started carrying everywhere.
Brant is such a sweet sweet boy!  We pray that he will use all of the personality and determination in him to serve the Lord.  We are so thankful the Lord entrusted us with such a sweet, funny little guy!!

This is the day that he wanted what Spence was having for lunch.

Mickey Mouse was on the TV.... no time for a picture

This is the day we all had to wear bibs to school, me included....

Cuddling with daddy

Rarely sleeps in my arms anymore, so I am eating this up

At the ENT for a check up, signing please for the candy he saw in my purse

Wooo this thing moves??

Not a care in the world...sitting out the tornado warnings in the hall.

We are definitely in a "mommy phase"

And lastly riding to school he found a paci...He hides these things and occasionally comes up with one.  But most of all notice the Maters....

November, like every other month was hectic!  So I will just recap leading up to Thanksgiving..

This was "Ike and Brandy day".  I get Veteran's day off so we have declared it our day from here on out.  This year we went to breakfast, got massages, shopped, ate a late lunch and picked the boys up early.  We loved it.  I wish we could have one every month.
Then the dreadful RSV hit our house.  Poor Spence!  My parents thankfully came and stayed with the boys for a whole week!!  They spoiled us by having supper ready every night too!

We cheered hard for our Bulldogs!  They had a good run this year, and we are looking forward to next year!
We had pizza with the Anderson's.  Best buds.
Then we pulled out the Christmas decorations and got started decorating!  We knew Brant would be so excited so we put the tree up while he was napping so we could surprise him.  He didn't disappoint either.  First thing he said was ooohhhh...  Spence seemed to like them also.

Brant helped out with decorating.  He loved it.  He has become a great little helper.

Halloween 2014

Oh my goodness!  I just love this picture of our sweet sweet boys!
The boys wore their costumes to school on Halloween!  I would not let Spence wear his actual costume because he’s a spitter.  So we used Brant’s from last year.  They were the cutest things!!!

My parents came down for Trick or treating!  Brant was so excited to see them.We were so excited to trick or treat with Gray.  The boys both did well.  They made it to about 4 houses so I call that an successful.
Spence's actual costume!

My parents, Amanda and Jason stayed for the weekend with us!  The boys loved it!
