First day back..

After 8 weeks home with the boys, it was time to send them to the new school.  The new school is at our church.  We debated and prayed about the move for several months.  We ultimately decided that we felt it was best for our boys.  We have received confirmation after confirmation that it was the right decision.
Brant had been at his other school since he was 10 weeks old, and we did have an occasional tear at drop off but.... we never had melt downs like we did the first few weeks here.  I am certain now that it separation from us rather than the place itself, but I of course questioned our decision.  Especially the first day I shed a few tears myself.  Ike realized that if they arrived at breakfast time it made the drop off process much smoother.  I think the melt downs were hard on daddy since he does the dropping off now.  He said last week that Brant just marched right in to the cafeteria like a big boy.
Here is our big boy the night before his first day back.

The first day he was there the children's minister and preacher's wife, Mary sent me pictures which really helped mommy with the transition.
Spence of course had no trouble.  Pick up was sweet though I could totally tell Spence was happy to see me.

This was the second week Mary sent me a picture of our big happy boy!

Like I said so many confirmations that we made the right choice.  I love that the boys will be taken care of by people who love the Lord, and will be exposing them to songs and stories about Him.  I also love that they leave the classroom. I know that is a safety thing, but Brant literally NEVER left his classroom at the other school.  Now they travel to the cafeteria and play outside a good bit.  They also tell us everyday how many times they had to let Brant go love on Spence.  They say if he does get upset that helps him calm down.  That just melts my heart and I'm so happy they let him do that!!  He seems very happy now.  I can tell Spence is getting lots and lots of love there as well.  I hoping this will be the only daycare Spence will ever know.

Life with 2

Having two is hard. .
Emotionally…
Most days every day, I am pretty sure I am totally blowing it.
Mommy guilt has quadrupled…how in the world to balance a toddler who needs or wants my undivided attention with a newborn…

Physically…
I am exhausted.  The other day I wanted to just go soak in the tub while the boys were napping (at the same time which is rare).  I had to rethink this when I arrived at the tub and it is full of toys…was it really worth it….
My hair rarely even gets dried these days and never curled.
Holding on to about 30lbs of baby weight…too tired to care just yet.

BUT all that being said moments like this really put it all into prospective.

Our days can be hard, but boy are they worth it.

Other summer happenings

Just a few other happenings during the summer!
Brant and I took many selfies...

We took a few walks, and we may have had to be rescued by aunt Molls on this articular walk.

Spence at 2 months

Spence our little chunky monkey!
You are such a sweet baby.  Here are a few highlights:
-You did "wake up" a little during month two.  I think you were having some stomach issues that we finally got worked out.
-You are a quiet baby usually, but daddy and I agree you are the louder than your brother when you do finally get worked up.
-You have started cooing and smiling at us.  This has won our hearts over again and again.
-You also started attempting to bat at things.
-Mostly sleep all day
-This month your night time sleeping did get a little better.  You still wake up around midnight and then again around 4-5, but at least it is consistent.
-Sleep well swaddled in the rock and play still
-like the swing, bouncer, and even a pallet on the floor, pretty content
-Weighed 14lbs at the 2 month check up!!

Brant 17 months

Brant,
This has been such a fun month!  I loved having you home with Spence and I (most days anyway ha!).  You are a ball of energy!  You had an order of business when you got up.. 1. Find Spence 2. Turn on the TV (not to watch but it needed to be on) 3. Drink milk and have breakfast 4. GO OUTSIDE!!  You have been my entertainment for sure!  I just love how you will repeat things over and over if we think they are funny.  I always knew you were smart, but I have really been blown away with how quickly you learn new things.  I can pretty much tell you something once and you have.  Your daddy and I love you so much and we are so thankful for your sweet and fun personality and so proud of you!
At 17 months you have....
-Found your belly button and your nose.  You love to stick your finger in our nose and think it is hilarious.
-Can put together your shape puzzle by yourself and a few other puzzles
-Learned to slide
-Loved the splash pad, your sprinkler, and sand box....Pretty much just love being outside

-Started loving Buster especially when he chases you and you will call him "buha".  Took me a little bit to realize that what you were saying.  My favorite is when you are fussing at him you shake your little finger at him.
-Figured out how to move the little bikes you got for Christmas...but mostly backwards.
-Love Gray!  He's your BF for sure!  You are always so excited to see him.  We loved having play dates with him this month!

-You have started hiding or making a little barricade when you have to go #2.  We went ahead and got a potty.  You will sit on it, but I think it is still going to be a while.
