7 months

7 months!
  • Weight: at least 18 lbs. 9 oz
  • FOOD:  Definitely has a sweet tooth!  He loves all things sweet- sweet potatoes, applesauce, peaches, pears (all purees).  He gags for most green things especially peas.  I am afraid he may turn orange because all the veggies he likes are orange.  He has became more and more interested in what we are eating so I plan to try to give him more real food soon.  Last night he really wanted a chip at the Mexican restaurant.
  • He loves cups.  He is actually pretty good at drinking from a real cup and loves straws.
  • He is a great sitter now.  He can not get himself into this position but oh how he tries!  He is very good at reaching for toys and getting back up to sitting position though.  When he needs to get down on his belly he just falls over.
  • He is VERY ticklish.  He always has been and we love it!
  • Loves to JUMP!  His favorite thing is by far the jumperoo.  He starts jumping in your arms before you can even get him in it.  If you hold him standing on your legs he starts jumping.  He is full of energy.
  • Not crawling just yet.  Ike has always said I think he wants to skip straight to walking.  I think there is some truth to this he much prefers for you to hold him in the standing position, and tries to get your hands to pull himself to this position.
  • Really good at taking out the paci and putting it back in.  At night he will find it and put it in his mouth.
  • He is a crazy sleeper!  All over the place.  He loves to push his head up against the side of the bed so a few months ago we put the bumper pads back in.
  • Still loves his bottles!  I can't imagine taking these away. ever.
  • Sleeping more like 7-7 now.  I have to wake him before 7 but I think he would sleep till then.
  • This month has consisted of lots of poo poo.  You had stomach bug twice (us too), but on a normal day it has seemed like more. (TMI for the blog probably)
  • He loves to feel things of different textures or our faces or hands.
  • Still Mr. personality.  Smiles at everyone and NO strange danger at all!! He seems to love being around people.
Brant,
You are such a fun, SWEET, happy little guy!  We could not be more blessed.  I love picking you up in the afternoons.  You are always so happy to see us.  You even grabbed me and gave me a kiss one afternoon last week.  My heart about burst!  You love being close to us.  It really is so sweet.  Daddy calls you a lap baby because it is your favorite place to be.  You are changing and doing so many new things everyday.  We love you so much.

Mom and Dad

Here are our attempts at 7 month pictures.  He is always trying to get his hands on something so it hard to keep him still.  But I love all these because they really show his personality!  He is a little ham and we are eating it up!!!

Saturday night the Walker's stayed with us, so we had a fun Sunday morning playing with Taylor Grace.  Sweet friends already.

We had a nice Sunday afternoon stroll around the neighborhood.
I love nights like these...with these two!

Trying out the big boy swing.

Roommate reunion

We had a semi-roommate reunion.  Thanks to technology we were all together some what.  I love these girls so much and miss them all terribly! It definitely feels like home with them.  I hope we will always be able to get together.

Brant had a blast!  He LOVED Walt!  He would laugh and laugh at everything he did.

It is so special to me to see my girls and their children with Brant.  And I just love love love getting to love on their babies too!!
(poor Kenzie, this is as close as she came to a picture)

No good. Very Bad day.

October 3, 2013.  This was a no good very bad day.  I got home a little early this day, and decided to do some laundry.  I gather and separate Brant's laundry.  When I go to put the laundry basket back I see what I think initially is poo poo.  I take a second look, and realize it is a SNAKE!  I am TERRIFIED TERRIFIED!!!  of snakes.  BUT  I knew I had catch it.  I run grab a bowl and cover it (and set stuff on top of the bowl just in case) At this point I'm still calmish.  I call Ike, and the second he answers I loose it...like sobbing.  I somehow get out that there is a snake in BRANT'S ROOM!  My wonderful husband leaves work immediately, and comes home to take care of this...

This was one of the most unnerving things ever.  I just could not seem to shake it for days..  I'm bad about leaving the door open to go to the mailbox (because of my irrational fear that I may lock us out), so maybe it came in then or maybe it got in something when we had everything in the garage before we moved and just hung out for the past month???  We looked everywhere for a way in and could not find one. Needless to say, Brant slept with us.  I don't think he minded.

Our nights

Just a glimpse into a typical night at our house...We come home from school and practice our crawling skills....

Then it is supper time!  Brant loves to play in his highchair.  The best toys are bowls, spoons, and sippy cups.  Whether or not he eats is still hit or miss.  This transition to food is a tricky one.  His meal schedule right now is...
6:45- 6 oz bottle
9:15- Cereal
10:00- 6oz bottle
12:30- a stage 1 veggie
1:00- 6oz bottle
3:30- 6oz bottle
5:00- stage 1 veggie or fruit (sometimes both and sometimes neither)
6:30-6oz bottle
Of course this is tentative, but it is what we shoot for.  Luckily, Brant is pretty laid back since his mom and dad are not great schedule followers on the weekends.

After "supper" it is bath time...Last week he had his first sink bath.  He has always loved taking a bath, but now that he can sit it is even more fun.  He loves playing with his toys and LOVES for daddy to splash him.  I was trying to hold off on teaching that skill.

He LOVES when daddy gets home! and LOVES to go get the mail.  It is usually bent and wet by the time it gets inside.
We love to spend some time grabbing Buster's ears petting Buster.
Brant does pretty well about having his bottle and going straight to bed.  Our nights are short, but we try to get in as much fun as possible.

Yesterday..

Typical Day...yesterday.
I feel like this was a day where mommy hood was in full bloom!  AND as crazy as it was looking back on it today I just have to laugh, and soak in all these funny moments.  It was one of those mornings when I laid in bed longer than I should.  Every time I hit snooze I think... you will regret this… Finally I get up just in time for Brant to wake up, welp dirty hair today (just being honest).  I bring him to our room while I start getting ready, and to say bye bye to daddy.  He is ready to eat.  I mean can you blame him.  He sleeps 12 hours usually so he is hungry!  I take him to his room, and give him his bottle.  When he is done I pick him up above my head to talk to him, and he spits up EVERYWHERE!!!  In my hair and most of all…in my mouth!  It was wide open talking to him!!!  So not only is my hair dirty it is full of spit up.  I just try to get it out the best I can and go.  I change Brant’s diaper and dress him which is taking longer because he is in between sizes so some 6 month fit and some don’t.  After 3 outfit changes he is not happy.  Finally he is dressed, I load him up and give him Sophie.. this helps.  We head to school, when we pull up I smell it…clearly he had a blow out on the way to school!  I hate to take him in with dirty pants, but of course no wipes in his bag.  So I do indeed have to take in my extremely poopy baby, and beg for forgiveness.  Shew, we made it.  The afternoon was something too…bless him…no nap since 1.  He was not happy!  I attempt to start supper…at one point I look around the meat is halfway browned before I had to turn it off and the potatoes are peeled but not cut up.  I just had to laugh…Ike, I’m living up to the nickname J.  Brant takes his bottle a little early and we totally skip trying to eat food tonight.  He is in his bed by 6:30.  We survived.  Life is hectic for sure.  I have prayed for these days…and I am thankful for them.  This morning we had a better start.  However, I did dress him in poopy stained clothes and did not realize it till we were almost out the door.  Oops, I changed him of course!

Look at this face...

Life is so good.
