The cocoon

Today was one of those days.  Some one I know and I am super happy for announced that they are expecting.  They started trying last month.  So I was starting to have a selfish moment of why me? and my sweet friend Molly sent this to me.  I thought it was just what I needed so I had to share.
The Cocoon
One day a small opening appeared on a cocoon, a man sat and watched for
the butterfly for several hours as it struggled to force its body
through that little hole. Then it seemed to stop making any progress. It
appeared as if it had gotten as far as it could and it could go no
further.

So the man decided to help the butterfly, he took a pair of scissors
and snipped off the remaining bit of the cocoon. The butterfly then
emerged easily. But it had a swollen body and small, shriveled wings.
The man continued to watch the butterfly because he expected that, at
any moment, the wings would enlarge and expand to be able to support the
body, which would contract in time. Neither happened! In fact, the
butterfly spent the rest of its life crawling around with a swollen body
and shriveled wings. It never was able to fly.

What the man in his kindness and haste did not understand was the the
restricting cocoon and the struggle required for the butter fly to get
through the tiny opening were God's way of forcing fluid from the body
of the butterfly into its wings so that it would be ready for flight
once it achieved its freedom from the cocoon.
Sometimes struggles are exactly what we need in our life. If God
allowed us to go through our life without any obstacles, it would
cripple us. We would not be as strong as what we could have been. We
could never fly.

"Consider it pure joy, my brothers, whenever you face trials of many
kinds, because you know that the testing of your faith develops
perseverance." (James 1:2-3)

Good weekends with friends and family!

Last weekend we met the Wilson's on their camping trip and spent the afternoon with them.  It was a blast!  We just love hanging out with them! Here is their cute little family!
Another reason we went home was because Stacie had a dinner party to celebrate Rob finishing his Master's.  We are all so proud of him, and Stacie and I were able to complain  share with each other about how much time the boys spent studying, in class, etc.  We had no idea they had a surprise for us!  I was convinced Rob would try to keep the gender of their baby a secret so when they came out with this cake I believe I may have squealed with excitement!  So as you can see it's a BOY!  YAY!

Then to top off the weekend these two showed up to surprise my mom on mother's day!  It has been several weeks since we have seen them so this made me very happy!  We miss them terribly!

Mother's Day 2012

Ike and I are very blessed to have our wonderful Moms!  We went home this past weekend to celebrate.  This year has definitely taught us to be thankful for every second we have with them.   Thank you both for all you do for us!  We love you so very much, and feel so lucky to have you both!

Confession Friday

I’m calling it confession Friday.  I have been a total and complete crazy woman this week.  For starters I embarrassed myself greatly by losing it in public.  We happen to live in a fabulous place for walks.  People are always out biking, running, walking, etc.  It’s a quiet lovely little area.  I was walking Buster when all of the sudden he goes darting across the street.   He had seen a squirrel and took off after it.  I had his leash locked but the little booger broke the clicker.  Anyway needless to say I just knew he was going to get hit by a car so here I am SCREAMING for him in the middle of the street (if you really know me this is not hard to picture).  I grew up in the for real country (you know where you have to drive to your neighbor’s house) so I am still learning how to respect my neighbors.  Any way I may have looked like a crazy woman.

Oh then last night… Ike and I had DVRed American Idol to watch when he got home from work.  I made the mistake of clicking on my Facebook app so I of course saw who was going home.  I didn’t want to tell Ike that I had seen it because we were supposed to watch it together.  BUT when he called after being at work for about 12-13 hours to tell me he was headed home I was very ugly…I may have even hung up on him.  So I ended up having to fess up to why I was in such a terrible mood.  I mean I was furious at American Idol.  I may have even cried like a baby when Skylar was eliminated!  Ridiculous!  I am still really confused how a few of the others have survived longer than her…  Oh well moving on.

I have also linked up with Kelly’s Korner for SUYL for making new friends.  I have to agree that making friends as an adult is a lot harder than it used to be.  We have tons of couple friends spread out across the country (which have set the friend bar pretty high), but finding NEW friends that we BOTH click with is difficult.  I really want Ike and me to make couple friends here that like to hang out and travel.  The problem is schedules make it hard for us to make much of an effort in this area.  By the time the weekend gets here we are content to just hang out with each other.  Maybe eventually  J

Happy Birthday, Molly!!

Yesterday was a very special birthday!  Molly is so sweet, and always makes sure that everyone else has a special birthday.  It was nice for it to be a day about her!  Ike and I were lucky enough to be invited to go with her and her parents to celebrate last night.  They took us to hibachi, and it was DELISHOUS!! Ike actually even liked some sushi!  (i love sushi, and he will never eat it). Then we went back to Molly’s for presents and cake!  I hope she enjoyed the day as much as I did!

Another fabulous weekend

We had another fabulous weekend!  Friday night the Wilson's came and hung out with us.  We grilled and played a little croquet.  It is so nice that they are still pretty close to us.
Ike and Sam have a mutual love for each other  :).  We love hanging out with them!  We always have fun catching up and playing with their kids.

Saturday morning we watched a few cartoons and had our usual breakfast....
SaturDAY we both had things to do so that night we had a date!  Then we shopped a little and then met up with Molly for some yogurt!

Sunday afternoon I had my first Sam's shopping experience.  Molly has recently became a member and she took me as her guest.  I LOVE it!  I hope we can make this at least a monthly thing.  That afternoon Ike, Buster, and I hit the reservoir.  Ike's dad gave him a little fishing boat, and we got out in it.  It was the best.  Buster can swim, but he is not a fan at all.  He prefers the boat.  Ike has a motor for the boat, but it is not register yet so we paddled.  I can't wait for more afternoons like this one!
