Our dads!

I am a little late with this post but what's new! Last night we took my daddy out to eat because he was working on Father's day. Which just about describes him to a T. My dad is very hard working. I know I am so blessed to have him. He is such a great girl daddy! Poor thing had to live in a house with 3 girls, and this was challenging with all the screaming matches, pinching, bossing, and lets not forget his favorite the TEARS! He handled all that like a pro! I know I nearly drove him crazy in my teenage years with my attitude and stubbornness, mostly because I am JUST like him. My sister and I laugh because she and my mom are just alike and argued like crazy when we were growing up. I was the opposite, and it wasn't so much that my dad and I argued alot but when we did...oh dear the yelling, foot stomping, door slamming!! We both have a temper, and you would never think this by meeting him. ha, fun times! He seriously is such a great daddy, so good to us! Now Mr. Ira, Ike's dad... We got to celebrate with him on Sunday. Ms. Susie cooked a big lunch with lots of fresh vegetables from Mr. Ira's garden, soooo good. Mr. Ira works hard every year in his garden providing many tomatoes to the community! We look forward to these every year, last year for the first time I even enjoyed a few of these (I don't usually eat tomatoes). Mr. Ira is very old school, he is almost 71 after all. He loves that I "take care of" Ike, you know fix his plate and drink. Ha! So I have started making Mr. Ira's glass of tea for meal time too, and he loves it! I know just the combination of sweeteners 3 yellows and 2 pinks! Then we watched a little of the ball game with him, I have mentioned this before but he LOVES sports all of them! I forgot to get a picture of Ike and Mr. Ira on Sunday, but here they are headed out to enjoy something they both love, HUNTING!

Ike and I are both blessed with great dads, who we love very much!

***I just realized I never posted about Mother's day, I will do a mom post soon. They are awesome too!!!:)*****

Family fun!

This past weekend Ms. Susie's family in Carthage had a get together since her brother from Oregon was here visiting. So Friday afternoon we went down there. They had tons of good food, and a band came to play. I think we were all a little surprised by the amount of people that showed up. There was at least 400 people, and they said that when they have these things there has been up to 700-800 people! We had originally planned to stay at the cabin but since the fun went on past our bed time we decided to get a hotel in Carthage. This was an adventure...there are 2 hotels in Carthage, the Carthage Inn and the Economy Inn. The Economy Inn was the best of these 2. Let's just say it was interesting ha! Then Saturday we went back to the family cabin. They took pictures of the family that attended Leake Academy.... the past, present, and future Rebels. There were a ton of them! Then we all took family pictures. I did not get many because there were so many cameras, maybe I can get a few from the others! Here are just a few from the weekend.
Ike and I getting ready for the band on Friday night!!!Ike, me, Samantha, and her husband Ryan

Show us your life- Proposal

The day I had been waiting for...more on that here
Ike was still in the military and had came home on leave for a week. I stayed in Augusta and my sister came to spend the week with me. We had planned to come home on Friday night but I wasn't feeling so good and I ask her to drive me home Thursday night so I could go to the doctor on Friday. Looking back she did act a little funny about it, and she and Vanessa (my roommate in Augusta) thought we should go out to eat before we left. Little did I know they were stalling. After we eat we head to Mississippi and the whole way home Ike didn't call...he is always good about this??? Little did I know he was asking my parents to marry me!!! A little history...Ike's grandparents met and attended a small little church in Mississippi close to where we live. The church only has service once a year on Mother's day. Ok now fast forward to Saturday night... I knew that his family would be going there on Mother's day and Aunt Iris was here visiting so I was totally expecting to be invited to come. NO!!! I even dropped little hints, and Ike is very perceptive. I was sooo sad, and I was whining to my mom, who for the record ALWAYS takes my side, let me say that again ALWAYS. Not this time.... So later on Sunday afternoon Ike calls and I am not in a good mood, and he ask if I want to go out to the little cemetery and plant some flowers. We get out there and we stop by the little church because Rose "forgot her bible this morning". So we are digging around to find the key in the grass that Ike "thinks" they hide there, finally we go inside and the church is BEAUTIFUL, flowers every where! Here I am thinking they go all out for Mother's day. This is why Ike did not invite me, they had done this right after church and everyone at the church had known he was going to propose and he couldn't risk it slipping out. I really had NO CLUE, a proposal was even close to happening people would ask and Ike would say, I can't afford a ring right now, or no time soon (my personal favorite). So I start looking for Rose's bible, and I look up on the pulpit and I say that looks like Rose's bible up there, did she speak this morning (still not believing I was NOT invited). Ike tells me to come up there then I see the ring!! He has it surround with flowers and a lantern shining down on it. He gets down and tells me how much he loves me and ask me to marry him!!!! I was shaking and crying, and of course said YES! Then we went over to the bible and he read 1 Corinthians 13: 4-7 Love is patient, love is kind. It does not envy, it does not boast, it is not proud. It is not rude, it is not self-seeking, it is not easily angered, it keeps no record of wrongs. Love does not delight in evil but rejoices with the truth. It always protects, always trusts, always hopes, always perseveres. Love never fails.
SO sweet! and then we prayed for our marriage and Ike sang to me! Then we headed home to tell everyone or for me to tell everyone!!! Well first I had him re-enact it for a picture! Notice Ike's clothes he thought if he was all dressed up I would be suspicious....

Ike picked out the ring all by himself, he did great!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

I am on a roll!

You all are probably bored, if there is even anyone who actually reads this blog, I have been feeling a little insecure about this lately haha...I have reminded myself it is for me anyway.
Here goes my 5 question Friday....
1. Take your pick...date night, girls night out, or night out alone? While I enjoy a good girls night I am going to have to go with date night. I mean look at him AND he is SWEET, yes date night it is.

2. Can you touch your nose with your tongue? Not quite and yes I did just try!

3. What is your favorite flower and why? I have 3 favorites... Tulips- they have been my favorite most of my life, they are my dads favorite so I guess he rubbed off on me, and they make me think of spring! Lillies- They are just so girly how can you not love them! and Roses- I think roses are just so elegant

4. If you could go back in time, what advice would you give yourself? Trust God and RELAX, His timing is perfect. And Enjoy every phase of life, don't rush because each one will pass and you WILL miss it! The whole time I was engaged my dad would sing that song "Your gonna miss this". I am still having to tell my self this. It seems every phase ahead seems appealing, like now that I am married babies look fun. :)

5. If you won the lottery, what is the very first thing you would do? Pay off all our debt!
If anyone does happen to read, you should do 5 question Friday tooooo! and leave me a comment if you do so I check it out, and if you don't have a blog post your answers in my comments! Hope you all have a WONDERFUL weekend!

More Buster...

Monday night I took Buster for a walk and we stopped by to see Addie. She is Ms. Allison's baby. These two went nuts when they laid eyes on each other. What is the first thing Buster does when they come out.... uses the bathroom right by the front door, and not just making his territory! How embarrassing! Thanks son! :) So we all walk back to my house and let the pups play for a while. The walk was quite interesting, Buster would not let her be in the lead if she got ahead he would pull me to get back in front of her!!! Dominate little thing! They ran crazy through our little house! Buster continued to embarrass his parents by being EXTREMELY forward with Addie.
Buster begging Addie to play!
Ok she is ready to play!
They took a break! For a SECOND!

At it again!
I got up during the night to go to the bathroom and someone had wet the floor!!!!! I am sure Buster marking his territory! :) Addie is one of the few dogs even close to Buster's hyper level! We loved our play date!

Got to love weekends!

Our weekend in review :)

Friday: Ike and I went to go eat with our friends the Townsend's. They are expecting their first baby, and Lauren is too cute!

Saturday: started as usual...yard work! We have the riding lawnmower back in business so that really helps! It took less than 2 hours! WOOHOO!! NOTE: this was taking ALL day Saturday. Then Saturday night we went on a date! I just love date nights! We went to eat and to see Prince of Persia! Which I recommend!
Sunday: we went to church and over to the Andrews to have lunch and celebrate Sam's birthday which is today! He is 20!!! (no pictures, sorry) Then unfortunately home for Ike to study! :( All together a wonderful weekend!

Buster and I watching TV. This was actually Thursday night! If I can figure it out I will upload a video! Buster really gets into the TV if there are dogs on it. I am not mad though it looks like it ha!

Then this is Buster begging to go to bed! He does this every night around 10.

2 in row!

Here is my 5 question Friday...

1. What do you think makes a good friend, or friendship? Someone that is loyal, honest, and can multiply good times and divide the bad times...however that saying goes!
2. What is the last thing you bought & later regretted? HAHA Well this is a little thing but I bought Ike some shorts while I was at the beach. I thought they were great. They were very summery plaid from Banana Republic, so cute! I get them home and realize they are below his knee, not really Ike's style ha. Bless his heart, he was so sweet about it, acting like he liked them.
3. Have you ever had a prank played on you? Are you kidding? My husband is Mr. Prankster! Yesterday for instance, I called Ike at 5:45 pm to see if he was on his way home so I could start supper, no answer. He always calls me when he gets out of class so I assume he is getting out late. Around 6:15 he calls and says he is just leaving headed home which is about an hour trip. I continue talking to him on his drive home... About 5-10 minutes into the conversation there is a bang (not a knock) on the door. It startled me, I go to the door, "Who is it?". No answer, after doing this a few times, I am freaking out into the phone to Ike (who is not saying anything, but I really did not give him a chance). "They won't answer, I have no idea who it is, oh my!!!", etc... You know at this point every criminal minds episode is flashing through my head. NOT ONCE did I even think it could be Ike. DUH! He got a good laugh out of this. He is always doing things like this so I should know by now!
4. What is your favorite theme park? I guess I would say Six Flags. I have a love/hate relationship with roller coasters. I H.A.T.E. the ride up the huge hill at the beginning of most roller coasters and sometimes begin to hyperventilate in line but I usually love them after that.
5. Have you ever seen someone else give birth? Not in real life, just in health class my freshman year of high school.

Back from the beach!

Early Saturday morning Candace (this is Sam's girlfriend(Sam is Ike's little brother) ), Her Mom Ms. Allison, and I loaded up and headed to Destin for a girls trip. We had a great trip! It was very relaxing! We laid on the beach for 3 days with perfect weather, and shopped some at night! I even got in the water!! This is a BIG thing for me! In the past I barely get in the water above my ankles. It is crazy I know, I get in the mud river all the time. I have heard about the alligators and snakes and who knows what else that reside in our waters here, but I am not as scared. Weird I know! I guess because I grew up in these waters! :) These are my reasons for not getting in the ocean...
-SALT water, I feel like I can taste it for days!
-Seaweed! How this stuff manages to get into your swim suit is beyond me!
-Sharks, enough said!
-JELLYFISH, I have a fear of these things, I have never been stung and I would like to keep it that way!
And if all that was not bad enough when you are wet the sand seems to stick to you more!!
This time I decided to just give it another shot, I haven't really been IN the ocean since I was a freshman in high school. I must say it was fun, BUT on day three we were taking a little sun break and I look out and see a fin sticking up!!!!!! I am serious no more than 15 ft out! They SAID it was a dolphin, however I never saw it shoot out water, needless to say, I am back to the plan nothing above the ankles! :)
I really enjoyed spending time with these two! I was glad to get to know Candace better, since she maybe my sil some day! Being silly!

Five question friday!!

I borrowed this off someone else's blog thought this could be fun to answer 5 questions every Friday...We shall see if I can keep it up!

1. If you could go back to college would you change your major? Or, if you were to go to college right now...what major would you choose? Ummmm.... I have to say no!

2. What do you love most about your home? Interesting question, I call our house a 3 year house (and we are working on year 3 as we speak). I do like (maybe not love) our little house, as I tell Ike it has been good to us! The thing I love most is that I don't have to walk Buster I can just watch him out the back! May sound dumb to some but that is important in my world with a dog that goes outside a minimum of 15 times a night!

3. What types of books do you like to read (if you read at all)? I LOVE to read most of the time I have a book in my purse just in case the moment occurs that I have a few free minutes. I am a sucker for love stories. I really like it if it can be both a love story and a suspense book. My mil introduced me to Terri Blackstock. She writes christian suspense books, great author!

4. What is the grossest thing you have ever eaten? I am a terribly picky eater so I don't try to many gross things. BUT I would say cottage cheese and V8 are a close match!

5. If you had to be a character on a TV show who would you be? I am going to say Joey on Dawson's Creek with no explanation! :)

Ok That's it! Hope you all have a wonderful weekend!

Trip to Texas!

Some of our very best friends, The Walkers live in Texas and Ike and I try to get out there to visit them when we can. We both really like Texas. The Dallas/Fort Worth area has the feel of the country, but it is a city(with lots of places to shop, my favorite part). They recently bought a house and we got the opportunity to hang out with them during this fun time! We had alot of fun we shopped, ate (Lauren is a great cook), went to Dallas, and played around the house. They are excellent host! We can't wait to visit again! I am putting up some pictures but not really of the house. I am SURE Lauren will be posting about it soon! So check them out.
Lauren and I at her new house...we look like we are in High school! This is downtown in Dallas! I love Dallas!BELOW: The boys in front of the 6th floor museum, which I am sure you all know (I did not of course), is where JFK was shot from. I LOVED this musuem, I am usually not a history person but lately I feel I have become more curious. I read the book, The Help, and it has made me interested in this time period. Then we did alittle shopping and ate supper at the Rainforest Cafe!

we did get some things done around the house, we are so excited for the new homeowners!
The boys hard at work!
The homeowners!
